Strategies to Embrace Family Diversity

Autumn Learning Group

This is a Virtual Event - zoom link will be provided

Presented by: Norma Day-Vines, Ph.D., and our very own NHAIMH board member, Fallon Cluxton-Keller, Ph.D.

“Strategies to Embrace Family Diversity” will focus on strategies for providers to broach the topics of gender, ethnicity, and culture with families. Broaching refers to the provider's consideration of gender, ethnic, and cultural factors that may influence family members’ concerns and their engagement in services*. The learning objectives for the presentation include:

  •  Identify the continuum of broaching behavior within the context of the provider-client relationship

  • Establish the prerequisites for broaching the topics of gender, ethnicity, and culture

  • Identify steps to initiate broaching
